C.I.P poster

In C.I.P I painted a poster and it looked cool because of me, Cody and Saia. Painted the letters and background we painted the letters red, blue, yellow and green. The background black we were trying to go for space feels so we made the background black because that's the color of space. We were working on it for a very long time ( 2 hours ).

When Saia and Cody left to kiwi Kaha I had to finish the poster by my self for 30 minutes. I finished the poster in 24 minutes. It was fun to do the poster by my self because there was no-one in my way when I needed to get to the corners. After that, I cleaned the paint brushes with Jill and cleaned the paint cup with the dirty water. Then Cody and Saia came back from kiwi Kaha I was on my Chromebook playing prodigy but after that, I went on blogger and started writing on my blog about this C.I.P.

    hurumanu-Climate Change and the future.

`Aim; To look at the different ways we can prevent climate change in the future.

    What places will be affected?
pacific islands and different parts of NZ places near rivers
What else do we need to think about?

What other places around NZ will be affected?

What does this do to our drinking water?

    What are the main concerns?
    1.

    What can we do?
    1.  use electric car
    2.  use bikes
    3. use bus

What is the one, silver bullet solution?
    none

What is the mix of things we need to start doing?
    1.   use renewable energy
    2.   use solar energy
    3. don't use fossil fuels
What are 3 others you can think of?
    1. destroy all fossil fuel sites
    2. instead of using gas-powered cars use electric
    3. use bike
    Activities:

    Carbon Footprint

    Carbon Footprint explained

    Dwelling
    Water
    Recreation
    Heating and cooling
    Electricity
    Transportation
    Food
    Waste
    Air Travel
    Consumption

Colour 1: for actions, they are already doing
Colour 2: for actions that they pledge to undertake in the future

Ecological Handprint The Ecological handprint builds on the concepts from the Carbon Footprint. We will look at the positive actions of:

    1. Transportation
    2. Community
    3. Consumption
    4. Water
    5. Food
    6. Home
    7. Waste

    R

FACTORIES: Making clothes, cars, electronics, and processed foods creates a lot of pollution. When materials like plastic, cardboard, metal, and cement are made, harmful gases are released into the air and water.

Image result for cow gifCOWS: Cows create a greenhouse gas called methane when they burp and fart. Methane is a greenhouse gas that is 25 times more powerful than carbon dioxide. With about 1.5 billion cows around the world, methane is having a big effect on climate change.
Image result for cool cars in parking lot
TRANSPORTATION: Most cars need gas or diesel to work. These come from oil, which is a fossil fuel. The carbon dioxide in oil goes into the atmosphere when the car is running and that destroy the trees
Image result for simpsons landfillLANDFILL: Our landfills are growing and using up more healthy land. When waste breaks down in landfills, greenhouse gases are created, including methane and carbon dioxide. These gases contribute to climate change.
Image result for foodFOOD: We need food to survive, but it creates a lot of pollution. Transporting food by ships, planes, trains, and trucks add carbon dioxide to the atmosphere. Clearing the land for farms and farming practices also create greenhouse gases.

    Image result for power station
Electricity is a form of energy used to power almost everything in our homes. Electricity can come from renewable sources (water, wind, sun) and non-renewable sources like fossil fuels (oil, and gas). Fossil fuels release CO2 into the atmosphere.

Climate change at Orana wildlife park

This Tuesday we went to Orana wildlife park with WH and TS because we were a large group we got split into three groups I think TS went with their guide Bethany and WH went with their guide Elizabeth and we went with Richard our guide.

First, we went to see the meerkats then the Kea and then we had lunch and we went into the lemur enclosure the lemur was asleep and then went to the Kiwi enclosure it was dark because kiwis are nocturnal animals which they wake up in the night and go to sleep in the day and then we saw the lions sleeping and then we saw the tiger the poor tiger was all by himself because his twin has Cancer and died and so we went to see the African wild dogs and they were on the other side of the hill so we went to see the rhinoceros and then we saw the giraffes and we saw the African wild dogs and it was scary because they were watching us and then we went to the gorilla enclosure and looked at the gorilla and left the enclosure and then we got our bags and we left Orana park.

    QUESTIONS
1# what are the three things you liked about Orana park
1 I liked seeing the African wild dogs
2 I saw the gorilla eat it poo
3 I liked looking at the cute meerkats

2# what are the 4 facts you learned
1 only the Alpha male and female meerkat can only make babies.
2 one rhinoceros species are extinct because there is one left
3 don't hit your chest around gorillas it means you want to the Alpha male and you want to fight the Alpha
4 palm oil is killing the orangutang's habitat

2 Sellotape some tinfoil on the inside of the flap
3 Sellotape some glad-wrap so that the hole you have cut on the pizza box lid is covered over with glad-wrap
4 put a piece of black plastic on the bottom of the inside of the pizza box
5 Make a paper square that fits inside the pizza box and lays around the edge
6 Put a marshmallow on top of a square
7Put it in the sun to cook

Aim: To make a presentation that investigates different renewable energy's.

    Section 1: Title Page

Make a title page that incorporates all renewable energy 's Hydro, Solar, Wind and Wave.

    Section 2: Definitions

Define and provide a picture of each energy type.
    1. Hydro Energy
    2. Solar Energy
    3. Wind Energy
    4. Wave Energy
Section 3; Investigate each of the 4 Energy Types.
    (Hydro, Solar, Wind, Wave )

    1. Type:
    2. Is it used in NZ?
    3. Other Countries that use it?
    4. How is it used to generate electricity?
    5. Draw and label a diagram of the main parts of the electricity generator? This can be done on paper and uploaded or on a drawing program on your device. I do not want any Internet images or pictures. They must be hand-drawn using a ruler and labelled.

Section 4: Renewable Energy in the future.

List 10 ways that renewable energy will be used in the future to replace our current activities.
